I love helping others overcome life's challenging dilemmas. As a licensed psychologist, I thoroughly enjoy working with adults with various sexual orientations, genders, cultures and religious beliefs. My training as a Counseling Psychologist emphasizes the importance of multiculturalism, social justice and diversity issues. My approach to therapy is working in a collaborative manner with my clients to help them learn and integrate techniques into their life that will help them in achieving their treatment goals. As a psychologist, I believe in empowering my clients by helping them understand their authentic self as well as any external factors that may be causing them distress. I aim to create a place of safety, respect and comfort in order for my clients to freely express themselves. My counseling is strongly influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I provide evidence-based treatment in a safe and non-judgmental way to facilitate recovery from emotional hurts and unhealthy habits. I have specialized training in the treatment of trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder, particularly with sexual trauma and military trauma. I am an LGBT affirmative counselor. As a researcher, I focus on LGBT issues, immigration and acculturation concerns and Latinx identity. As a dedicated mental health professional with a generalist training, I have a passion for helping adults with a wide range of mental health concerns. My style is warm and engaging; I aim to create a relationship which facilitates growth through collaboration, respect and compassionate challenge.
